Legal Information and Website Imprint
Last updated: 29 October 2026.
Who We Are and What This Legal Page Contains
dailymix operates this website and is the publisher of the material you find on it. We work in the field of live television production. Our published material looks at studio equipment integration, dynamic camera techniques, acoustic optimisation, lighting setups, and the production processes that keep news programmes, interviews, panel discussions and live shows on air reliably and predictably. This page is our legal information page, sometimes called an imprint or legal notice. It identifies who is legally responsible for the website and for the material published on it, sets out the registration and tax identifiers that apply to our business, explains the rules that govern access to and acceptable use of the site, and explains how you can raise a legal, contractual, accessibility or data protection query with us.
The page is written in English, and English is the governing language of this website and of any contract that may be formed through it, including any purchase of paid resources, training material or services. If any part of the site is made available in another language for convenience, the English version prevails to the extent permitted by law. Nothing in this page removes or reduces any mandatory right you have as a consumer under the law of the part of the United Kingdom in which you live.
This legal notice should be read together with the other policies published on this website. Those policies are listed by name in the cross-reference section below.
Legal Form, Registration Details and Responsible Persons
dailymix is a private company limited by shares, incorporated in England and Wales and operating from a registered office in the United Kingdom. As a company registered in the United Kingdom we are subject to the Companies Act 2006 and to the trading disclosure requirements that apply to companies, which require specified identifying information to be shown on our website, on order forms, on business letters and in electronic communications such as email. The most important identifiers are set out below.
- Company Name: dailymix
- Company Registration Number: 13033970
- Place of Registration: England and Wales
- Legal Form: Private company limited by shares
- VAT Registration Number: GB 494089156
- Registered Office Address: MediaCityUK B4, Orange Tower, Salford Quays, Salford, M50 2HE, United Kingdom
- Responsible Director: Jon Howarth
- Data Controller Registration: Registered with the Information Commissioner’s Office as a data controller
Our Company Registration Number identifies our entry in the register kept by the Registrar of Companies for England and Wales. Our VAT Registration Number identifies our registration for value added tax with HM Revenue & Customs. Where share capital is mentioned anywhere on this site or in a business letter, the figure refers to paid-up share capital. Where the name of one director appears in a business communication other than as a signatory or in the body of the text, the names of all directors are disclosed, as the disclosure rules require. Our Responsible Director is the person accountable for the editorial and commercial decisions taken on this website.
Because parts of this website describe and, where offered, supply services rather than goods, the information duties that apply to service providers also apply to us. Those duties include giving our name, legal status and business address, a route for rapid and direct communication, a route for complaints, the price of a service where it is pre-determined, the main features of a service where those are not obvious from the context, our VAT number, our general terms and conditions where we use them, and the law and jurisdiction that apply to our service contracts. This page, together with our Terms and Conditions and our individual service descriptions, provides that information.
Registered Office, Contact Routes and Response Standards
Our registered office address is MediaCityUK B4, Orange Tower, Salford Quays, Salford, M50 2HE, United Kingdom. This is the address at which formal legal documents, notices and service of process may be delivered to the company. It is also the address shown on the public register.
You can reach us for any question about this legal notice, about a contract, about a complaint, about accessibility, or about your personal data by email at hello-pipelinemedia@salford.ac.uk or by telephone on +44 161 295 0100. Our website also includes a contact page with a form, which you may use if you prefer not to email or call. If your message concerns a specific order or account, please quote the order reference so that we can route your message quickly.
We aim to acknowledge enquiries within two working days and to provide a substantive reply within ten working days. Data protection requests made under the UK GDPR are handled within the statutory period of one month, which may be extended by a further two months where a request is complex or where we receive a number of requests from the same person. Complaints are handled in line with our Terms and Conditions and, where you are a consumer, without affecting your statutory rights.
Please do not send payment card details, passwords or other sensitive information by email. We will never ask you for your full card number or your account password by email or telephone.
Purpose, Scope and Intended Audience of This Website
The purpose of this website is to publish and, where relevant, to sell educational and reference material about live television production. The scope of that material includes the integration of studio equipment, camera technique and camera movement, room acoustics and acoustic treatment, lighting design and rigging, and the workflow and process discipline that makes live output dependable for news, interviews and entertainment formats.
The site is aimed at people who work in, study or have a professional interest in television, broadcast engineering, studio operations and live event production. It is intended to be read by adults. It is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly invite or collect personal data from children. Where a course or resource is open to students in secondary or further education, the relevant educational institution is responsible for supervising access.
Some parts of the website are commercial: we may offer paid guides, downloadable resources, online training, consultancy, or other services. Other parts are free to read. Reading free material does not create a contract between us; a contract is created only when you place an order and we accept it, or when we otherwise agree terms in writing. All content is provided as general professional information. It is not a substitute for site-specific engineering assessment, structural advice, electrical inspection, health and safety advice, or legal advice, and it must not be relied on as such.
Access to the Website and Rules of Acceptable Use
You may use this website for lawful purposes only. We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable and revocable licence to access the site and to read its content on the terms set out in this legal notice and in our Terms and Conditions. When you use the site you must not:
- copy, reproduce, republish, sell, rent, sub-licence or commercially exploit any part of the site or its content without our written permission;
- use automated systems, crawlers, scrapers, harvesting tools or bulk download tools to extract content, data or lists from the site, except for ordinary indexing by a recognised search engine acting in accordance with our instructions;
- use our content to train, fine-tune, evaluate or otherwise develop a machine learning or generative artificial intelligence model without a written licence from us;
- frame, mirror, deep-link into or present our content in a way that suggests a connection with us that does not exist;
- attempt to gain unauthorised access to the site, its servers, its databases or any connected system, or probe, scan or test the vulnerability of the site;
- introduce viruses, malware, ransomware, denial of service code or any other harmful material;
- interfere with the proper working of the site, impose an unreasonable load on our infrastructure, or bypass any access control, paywall, registration requirement or usage limit;
- impersonate any person, misrepresent your affiliation with any organisation, or post unlawful, defamatory, discriminatory, harassing or knowingly misleading material where interactive features are available;
- use the site in breach of applicable export control, sanctions or telecommunications law.
We may suspend, restrict or withdraw access to all or part of the site, to any account, or to any purchased resource, where we reasonably believe these rules have been broken, where we are required to do so by law, or where it is necessary to protect the site or other users. Where you have paid for access and we withdraw it because of your breach, we may treat the contract as ended and, to the extent permitted by law, no refund is due. We do not guarantee that the site, or any individual page or file, will always be available. Maintenance, updates, third-party outages and events outside our control may cause interruption.
Ownership of Content, Copyright, Trademarks and Database Rights
All material on this website, including text, diagrams, photographs, graphics, illustrations, video, audio, course notes, downloadable files, page layouts, source code and the selection and arrangement of content, is owned by us or is used by us under licence. It is protected by copyright under the Copyright, Designs and Patents Act 1988, by database right, and where applicable by design right, and by equivalent rights in other countries.
Our company name and any logo, wordmark or product name that we use on the site are our trademarks or are used by us under licence. You may not use them without our prior written permission, except where the law allows fair reference to us by name as a matter of honest reporting or comparison. All other trademarks, brand names and product names that appear on the site, including the names of camera, lens, lighting, audio and vision-mixing equipment, belong to their respective owners and are used for identification and descriptive purposes only. Their use does not imply any endorsement, sponsorship or affiliation.
You may view the site, print a single copy of an individual page and download material that is expressly offered for download, in each case for your own personal, non-commercial use, provided that you keep all copyright and attribution notices intact. Any other use is prohibited without our written consent. In particular you may not republish our content, upload it to another website or platform, distribute it to third parties, translate or adapt it, use it in paid training without a licence, or present it as your own work. Requests for permission to reproduce material, including requests from broadcasters, educators and publishers, should be sent to hello-pipelinemedia@salford.ac.uk.
Accuracy, Availability and Limitations of Liability
We prepare content with care, but the technical landscape moves quickly. Equipment firmware, standards, recommended practice and health and safety requirements change, and a technique that works in one studio may be unsuitable in another. We therefore provide this website and its content on an “as available” basis and make no warranty that content is complete, current, accurate or suited to your particular set-up. You are responsible for making your own assessment before relying on anything you read here.
To the fullest extent permitted by law, we exclude all liability for loss of profit, loss of revenue, loss of business opportunity, loss of goodwill, loss of anticipated savings, loss or corruption of data, damage to equipment, and for any indirect or consequential loss, arising out of or in connection with your use of the site or reliance on its content. Where you use the site for the purposes of a business, we exclude all liability to you for those business losses.
Where we provide paid services, and to the extent permitted by law, our total aggregate liability arising out of or in connection with the contract is limited to the total amount you paid to us for the service concerned in the twelve months immediately before the event giving rise to the claim. Where you are a consumer, this cap does not apply to any liability that cannot lawfully be limited.
Nothing in this legal notice excludes or limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, for breach of the terms implied by the Consumer Rights Act 2015 as to title, description, quality, fitness for purpose or compliance with a sample, or for anything else that cannot be excluded or limited under the law of England and Wales. If you are a consumer, you benefit from statutory rights in relation to any service we supply, and nothing here affects those rights.
External Links, Embedded Media and Third-Party Content
Our pages may refer or link to websites, resources, software, equipment documentation and video platforms that are operated by other people. Some of those references are included because they are useful; some are included because they illustrate a production technique. We do not control external resources and we are not responsible for their content, their security, their availability, their terms of use or their privacy practices. A reference to a third party is not an endorsement, and the absence of a reference is not a criticism.
Where we embed media hosted by a third party, that provider may set cookies or collect data about you when you interact with the embedded player, and it may transfer data outside the United Kingdom. Our Cookie Policy explains how consent for those technologies is obtained and how you can withdraw consent at any time. If you believe that material on this site infringes your copyright, database right or trademark, or contains inaccurate or unlawful content, please write to hello-pipelinemedia@salford.ac.uk with the address of the page concerned, an explanation of your concern, and evidence of your rights. We will review the matter promptly and will remove or amend material where we consider it appropriate.
Where the site includes features that allow third parties to post content, the views expressed by those third parties are their own and are not our views. We are not the publisher of third-party contributions and we are not liable for them, but we will act on properly substantiated complaints.
Privacy, Cookies, Terms and Refund Policy — Cross-References
This legal notice works alongside the other policies published on this website. Please read them before you use the site or place an order:
- Our Privacy Policy explains what personal data we collect, why we collect it, the lawful basis for each purpose, how long we keep it, who we share it with, and how you can exercise your rights.
- Our Cookie Policy explains which cookies and similar technologies the site uses, the purposes they serve, and how you can accept, refuse or withdraw consent.
- Our Terms and Conditions set out the contractual rules that apply to your use of the site and to any paid resource, course or service you buy from us.
- Our Payment and Refund Policy explains how payment is taken, when a contract is formed, your cancellation rights, and how refunds are calculated and processed.
As a data controller established in the United Kingdom we handle personal data in accordance with the UK GDPR, the Data Protection Act 2018 and the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations. When we collect personal data from you directly we tell you who we are, how to reach our data protection contact, the purposes and lawful bases for processing, the recipients or categories of recipient of the data, any international transfer and the safeguards used, how long we keep the data, and your rights. You have the right to be informed, of access, to rectification, to erasure, to restriction of processing, to data portability, to object, and to withdraw consent at any time where processing is based on consent. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office, which is the supervisory authority for the United Kingdom, although we would ask you to contact us first at hello-pipelinemedia@salford.ac.uk so that we can try to resolve the matter.
We use cookies, local storage and similar technologies for the essential operation of the site, for remembering your cookie choices, and — only where you have consented — for measuring how the site is used. Non-essential cookies are not set until you have given consent through the cookie banner, and you can change or withdraw your choice at any time. We do not sell personal data, and we do not use personal data for automated decision-making that produces legal effects concerning you.
Prices, Payment, Cancellation and Refunds
Prices for paid resources, courses and services are shown on the relevant page of this website. Unless we state otherwise, prices are quoted in pounds sterling and are inclusive of VAT where VAT is chargeable, and our VAT Registration Number is shown above. We may change prices at any time, but a change does not affect an order we have already accepted. Payment is taken through a regulated payment provider; we do not store full card numbers on our systems.
Where you buy a digital resource or an online course as a consumer, you normally have a statutory right to cancel the contract within fourteen days of the day the contract is concluded. That right does not apply once we have begun to supply digital content and you have expressly asked us to begin and have acknowledged that you will lose the cancellation right. Where you buy a live training session or consultancy, the cancellation right applies until the service is fully performed, and we may deduct a proportionate amount for work already carried out. Where you buy on behalf of a business, statutory consumer cancellation rights do not apply, and any cancellation rights available to you are those set out in our Terms and Conditions. Full details, including how to cancel and how and when refunds are paid, are in our Payment and Refund Policy.
Modern Slavery, Accessibility, Security and Reporting Concerns
We do not tolerate slavery, servitude, forced labour or human trafficking in our business or in our supply chains. Where an organisation meets the turnover threshold in the Modern Slavery Act 2015, it must publish a slavery and human trafficking statement for each financial year and, if it has a website, publish that statement on the website with a prominent link to it from the home page. Our approach is to expect the same standards from suppliers, contractors and partners as we apply to ourselves and to act promptly on any credible concern.
We want this website to be usable by as many people as possible. We work towards the accessibility guidance published by the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines at level AA, we aim to write in plain English, and we aim to structure headings, lists and tables so that assistive technology can interpret them. If you meet an accessibility barrier, please tell us at hello-pipelinemedia@salford.ac.uk and we will do what we reasonably can to provide the information in another format. We also have duties under the Equality Act 2010 to make reasonable adjustments for disabled people.
We protect traffic to the site with encryption, we keep software up to date, and we restrict access to personal data to those who need it. No system is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee that the site will be free from faults or from attempts by third parties to interfere with it. If you become aware of a security weakness, a data breach or any other serious problem connected with the site, please contact us at hello-pipelinemedia@salford.ac.uk before disclosing it publicly, so that we can investigate and, where necessary, notify the Information Commissioner’s Office and affected individuals within the statutory seventy-two hours.
Governing Law, Jurisdiction and Consumer Dispute Resolution
This legal notice, and any dispute or claim arising out of or in connection with it or with your use of the website, is governed by the law of England and Wales. Subject to the paragraph below, the courts of England and Wales have exclusive jurisdiction to settle any such dispute or claim. Where the law of another part of the United Kingdom applies to your contract, the courts of that part of the United Kingdom may also hear the dispute.
If you are a consumer living in Scotland, you may bring proceedings in the Scottish courts, and if you live in Northern Ireland, you may bring proceedings in the courts of Northern Ireland. Nothing in this section deprives you of the protection of the mandatory consumer law of the part of the United Kingdom in which you live, and you may also be entitled to use an alternative dispute resolution procedure. We are not obliged to participate in alternative dispute resolution, and we do not currently commit to doing so, but we will always try to resolve a complaint directly and in good faith. Your statutory rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015 and other consumer legislation are unaffected.
Changes to This Legal Information and Last Updated Date
We review this legal notice from time to time so that it reflects changes in our business, in the services we offer and in the law. The version published on this page is the version in force. We will update the last updated date shown at the top of the page whenever we make a material change, and where a change significantly affects your rights we will draw attention to it on the site. Changes do not apply retrospectively to a contract already concluded, unless the law requires otherwise. If you continue to use the website after a change takes effect, we will treat that continued use as acceptance of the revised notice, to the extent that the law allows.
If anything in this notice is unclear, or if you would like it in another accessible format, please contact us by email at hello-pipelinemedia@salford.ac.uk, by telephone on +44 161 295 0100, or by post at MediaCityUK B4, Orange Tower, Salford Quays, Salford, M50 2HE, United Kingdom. We will be pleased to explain how the information on this page applies to your situation.
